After a break of as much as 22 years, maritime communication between Cyprus and Greece must again be restored. Ferry under the flag of Cyprus RoPax named MV DALEELA will depart from the port of Limassol on Sunday 19 June to the port of Piraeus, and the arrival is expected in 30 hours.
DALEELA of Scandro Holding LTD has a capacity of 400 people and 100 vehicles. A total of 22 flights will be performed. The first is scheduled for June 19 from the port of Limassol, and the last one is scheduled for September 16 from Piraeus. 4 flights will take place in June, 8 in July, 7 in August and 3 in September. The ferry line is seasonal and is subsidized by the Government of Cyprus for the next three years in the amount of 16.5 million euros, subject to negotiations and approval EU.
Deputy Minister of Shipping of Cyprus Vassilis Dimitriadis on Friday described the launch of shipping links between Greece and Cyprus as an ideal opportunity to develop maritime tourism in both countries. Dimitriadis said that the Cypriot side managed to launch the line and described it as a project that should be accepted by the people. He emphasized that “there are many Greeks who want to visit their relatives living in Cyprus, and we are talking about more than 50,000 people.”
